Are you looking for an organization where you can meet and network with other people in your own community, a group where you can help raise funds that will benefit local nonprofit organizations and community programs, AND have fun?? The Glendale Civic Pride Ambassadors (GCPA) just might be that group! We are currently looking for new members to join their organization.

We are a nonprofit organization that has been in existence since 1994, when Mayor Elaine Scruggs invited a group of Glendale citizens to help increase public awareness valley wide of the good things Glendale has to offer. Since inception, GCPA has looked for ways to carry out our mission to help promote the economic, social and cultural vitality of Glendale.

GCPA members have worked a beverage booth at Glendale special events for the past 16 years to raise money to support our charitable giving. To date, we have given back almost $250,000 to the community! GCPA especially likes to support programs that benefit local children and families. We also look for projects that will help keep Glendale’s history alive for future generations. Our members have created a series of Glendale point-of-pride keepsakes (12 so far) that depict a Glendale landmark. Each year our members vote to select the subject of the new keepsake and are involved in the design process.

Our members attend various City and Chamber of Commerce events; some members volunteer for City of Glendale Boards and Commissions. They really enjoy learning more about city government, the history of Glendale, and having the opportunity to share this information with others in the community, especially youth.

There are no age boundaries in our organization. We appeal to parents, especially those who want to introduce volunteerism to their children, or to a youth organization. We appeal to empty-nesters wanting to get involved in some new activities now that the kids are gone, and to retirees who want to continue to be active and make a difference. We are even exploring the possibility of a Junior Ambassador program for youth in the future.

For more information about GCPA membership, please leave a message on our voice mail, 602-212-6752, or e-mail: info@glendalecivicpride.org.
