Meet and Greet

The Glendale Civic Pride Ambassadors (GCPA) are looking for new members and will be hosting a Meet and Greet on Thursday evening, May 9th, 2013, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm to provide local residents with the opportunity to find out what the Ambassadors do in the community.

Several GCPA members will be at the Gas Light Inn in Glendale, located just east of 58th Drive on Glendale Avenue, on the south side of the street, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to share their experiences as members and answer questions about the organization. There is plenty of parking available on Glendale Avenue, and adjacent streets.

The Ambassadors have been volunteering in Glendale for the past 17 years.  You may know them from seeing them in their red shirts in the beverage booths and in and around Murphy Park at Glendale Special Events.  From working these booths, the Ambassadors have been able to raise over $265,000.00 that they have awarded to other nonprofits to assist them with special activities and projects that fit the GCPA mission to promote and enhance the economic and social welfare of Glendale and surrounding area residents, including military families at Luke Air Force Base.   More recently, they have formed the GCPA Foundation, a 501-C3, which has begun raising additional funds to increase the Ambassadors’ opportunities to give back to the community.

Over the years, the Ambassadors have been involved in a number of community projects, including a Habitat for Humanity house.  They are currently planning what is hoped to be an annual fundraiser for Glendale’s “other” ranch, Manistee Ranch, which is located at 51st Avenue and Northern Avenue.  The Ambassadors would like to help bring more public awareness to the history of this property and assist the Glendale Historical Society in ensuring its survival. The theme will be “A Day at Manistee Ranch,” and will take place on March 9th.  The public will be invited to come to Manistee Ranch to tour the property, have lunch, listen to music, and participate in a number of fun, family-oriented activities around the property.

No matter what the Ambassadors are doing, their motto is to always have fun.  If you would like to consider being a part of this active fun-loving volunteer group, make plans to drop by the Gas Light Inn on Thursday evening, February 7th to enjoy a complimentary  beverage and appetizers while visiting with GCPA members about the benefits of membership. The Gas Light Inn is also a great community partner.  If you haven’t been there before, this is the time to check them out!
